Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are intact tumor cells shed into the bloodstream, and testing them supports prognosis, longitudinal monitoring of treatment response, and early detection of relapse. Because CTCs are whole cells, they can provide DNA, RNA, and protein-level information that fragment-based ctDNA analysis alone cannot capture.
